Ikole-Ekiti, Nigeria – March 24th, 2024 – Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr., Member of the House of Representatives for Ekiti North 1 (Ikole/Oye) Federal Constituency, extends warm congratulations to Rep. Philip Agbese and other Nigerian lawmakers, including Senator Saliu Mustapha, Prof. Lilian Obiageli Orogbu, and Hon. Mukhtar Zakari Chawai, on their inauguration as members of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) at the ongoing Extraordinary Session of the Sixth Parliament in Midrand, South Africa.
The inauguration ceremony, officiated by Hon. Lucia Dos Passos, the PAP’s Acting President, marks a significant milestone in the representation of Nigeria and Africa as a whole in the continental legislative body.
“I congratulate our distinguished colleagues on their inauguration as members of the Pan-African Parliament,” said Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr. “Their appointment is not only a recognition of their individual capabilities but also a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to the economic development and integration of the African continent.”
Rep. Agbese, who is the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, also had the distinct honor of being nominated by the West African caucus and confirmed as the Health Rapporteur, Pan-African Parliament Committee on Health. Rep. Rotimi affirms that Rep. Agbese, and the entire delegation will bring to bear passion, dedication, and integrity to the crucial tasks ahead.
Rep. Rotimi commends the new members for their dedication to serving Nigeria and Africa and expresses confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the objectives of the Pan-African Parliament. He also commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen for the selection of worthy ambassadors of the House of Representatives.
The Extraordinary Session of the Pan-African Parliament, which commenced on March 18th, 2024, will conclude on Wednesday, 27th March 2024.
